Vineyards
The locations of the vineyards are in Alcocer de Planes, Beniarrés and Cocentaina, embodying all the values of the mountains of the Comtat region.
Some of our vineyards are grown on terraces that have been abandoned for decades, located on such rugged terrain that it gives them a very special flavor. Thanks to this new project, we've given them a new lease of life.
Our grapes grow in the Sierra Mariola Natural Park, the Serpis River, and the foothills of Benicadell. Furthermore, the Sierra Ayatna, the Sierra de Serrella, and the Font Roja Natural Park define the edges of the visible horizon.
Cocentaina Sant Cristòfol:
The vineyard is located east-facing and below Pic Negre (~1000 m) in Cocentaina, in the surroundings of Montcabrer (1390 m) and within the Sierra Mariola Natural Park.
It sits at an altitude of about 550 meters. This location prevents the site from experiencing frost compared to places like Plana de Muro or other nearby areas because it receives the sun's influence early in the morning, but cools down in the afternoon when Pic Negre casts its shadow.
Typically, minimum temperatures are mild, and maximum temperatures are also mild, especially in winter, spring, and autumn. The daily temperature range is then relatively short, between 5 and 10 degrees (below 5 degrees in January). In summer, the situation is somewhat different as the sun shines more, and the temperature range lengthens, with fluctuations between 15 and 20 degrees. Precipitation records can be high during gregarious thunderstorms. The land contains limestone and rocky soil. The terraces are narrow and long, creating a terraced, terraced landscape. The plot area is one hectare, although the cultivated part only occupies 0.8 hectares due to its topography. Normal annual production is around 1,500–2,000 kg of grapes, mainly Tempranillo but also Monastrell. We also grow Garnacha Blanca (around 600–800 kg).
